As the season turned and the crispness of autumn creeps in, we’ve been busy in the māra (garden), closing one chapter and preparing for the next. Our recent working bee was a beautiful mix of mahi and manaakitanga - a reflection of what it means to nurture not just the soil, but each other.
We started with mulching and composting, giving back to the whenua what it’s given us all season long. The team worked together layering materials, building up the soil’s strength for winter and beyond. Our compost piles are thriving and full of potential.
We also laid down new pathways, giving the māra more structure and making it easier to move through, especially as the wetter months approach. There’s something grounding about creating clear, intentional space in the garden.
We ended the day as we often do - with shared kai. Some of it fresh from the garden, some brought along and offered from the heart.
