On Monday, our whare was filled with the voices and smiles of around 40 whānau who gathered for an evening of waiata and kai. The space came alive as we shared a mixture of familiar songs, alongside new waiata from beyond our rohe. It was beautiful to see tamariki, pakeke, and kaumātua all adding to the collective wairua of the night.
We moved into sharing a hearty kai - homekill pulled pork, creamy mash, chicken, coleslaw, and soft bread rolls warming everyone's puku. Dessert didn’t disappoint either, with lamingtons, fruit crumble, and ice cream offering a sweet end to the evening. The food was shared with aroha and generosity, reminding us of the strength and manaakitanga that lives in our community.
Throughout the night, the whare buzzed with kōrero whānau reconnecting and new relationships forming. We’re grateful to everyone who came and brought their mauri into the space, and we look forward to the next gathering.
